Life has been full, just a little quieter over here. The biggest highlight has been the birth of Charon’s daughter, which felt like the best kind of excuse for a bit of downtime. Now we’re easing back in. And with summer on our minds, we’ve found ourselves naturally rethinking the Wardrobe. At the core of it all, we’re craving function and simplicity. Like a T-shirt for every day and every occasion. Whether it’s about feeling effortlessly put together or a proper hiding place for lactating boobs.

Is there such a thing as the perfect T-shirt? It might be more like a few. We definitely have several on repeat. Like the perfectly proportioned, oversized, dropped-shoulder Lara (no pun intended), from Dutch brand (like most on this list) Neeve. We wear it in pitch black, though ice blue has been lingering. For something slightly more cropped and boxy, we keep reaching for the Jess in grey melange.

6397 makes the best vintage feel tees, like the Boy T and Mini Boy T (on sale here). We’ve been wearing the inside out T shirt (on sale) to the max. Still on our list, the Raglan slim tee in marine and the coverstitch long sleeve. Or try Neeve’s Emily LS.

While Leset had us mostly wanting to wear everything pointelle, the classic Margo in white lives on a pedestal in our wardrobe. If you love it as much as we do, you might want to double or triple up, or move on to the Margo long sleeve. Lara has been wearing two on top of each other to get that proper 14 year old boy look. We just discovered that Leset does baby sets too (crying), which means you can twin in the Margo bebe tee and pocket pants.

A refreshing counterpart to all the cropped styles out there is the Herman Fitted Tee (worn here in white). Inspired by the men’s undershirt, it cuts closer to the body, with a slightly longer sleeve that elevates the look. It’s quiet elegance in a cotton T shirt. We’ve been addicted to its soft, comfortable feel, its flattering fit, and its length. Get it in all three colors, you won’t regret it.

From cotton to cashmere

Taking it up a notch, it’s the cashmere blend T shirt. This deluxe tee version is suddenly everywhere, and somehow able to make the easiest look feel super chic. Rhea’s wool cashmere T-shirt, worn here by Charon, has been on repeat (Róhe makes a slightly lighter fit with dropped shoulders, also in black). But lately, we’ve added another brand favorite. Its little sister, the cropped T in cotton cashmere. Just enough knitwear to feel elevated, still very much a T shirt. Equally responsible for our move from cotton to cashmere is Extreme Cashmere. The James or Rik T-shirt, and the more fitted Tina or America, are simply hard to take off. Filippa K makes our favorite classic fitted lyocell cashmere tee. That said, we wouldn’t mind The Row’s Serata cashmere version in our wardrobe either.
