FROM ME FOR ME (AND YOU)

PATINA Translucent set in licorice
PATINA Translucent set in licorice

As the season of giving approaches, we’re redefining gifting. In a world that often feels uncertain and complicated, moments of joy, indulgence, and connection become even more meaningful. While a splurge might feel excessive, a thoughtful gift – one with lasting appeal – can make all the difference. While we love giving to others, treating ourselves is sometimes just as important. After all, who knows your taste, needs, and ever-evolving wishlist better than you?

So, what’s on our radar for some self-gifting this holiday season? Here’s our personal edit to get started.

Lara: I think we’ve all experienced coveting something that’s hard to justify. For me that is the Penna shirt from The Row. A seemingly simple green cotton corduroy shirt that, despite its price tag, stays firmly planted in my mind (thanks, in part, to my recent Zoë Kravitz style obsession). Perhaps it's the perfect indulgence: an ideal balance of muted color for my wardrobe and an interesting layer of texture to complement my cashmere and denim staples. If this kind of self-gifting still feels too steep (which, knowing me, it might), I’ll opt for a chic alternative like this same shade shirt from The Frankie Shop.

Next on my list: the Khaite leather Nevada boots, because nothing says timeless chic like a modern twist on a classic ankle boot. I first spotted their high-heeled black version and two-toned snake print iteration at the NYC store last summer, but it’s their newly launched rich brown pair with a smaller, more practical heel that has me hooked. Fellow jewelry lovers will understand the magnetic pull of Sophie Bille Brahe’s designs. Adding a ring from this Danish designer to my collection has only deepened my admiration for her Petit Boucle Ensemble earrings (same goes for the wavy version). It would be an absolute treat to add these Jessica McCormack earrings or this Sophie Buhai ring to my collection as well. This silver and white onyx box I discovered on 1stDibs, that has been sitting in my favorites list forever, is the kind of object that adds a soft gleam to any vanity or side table.

SPUSTOVA Audace de Tris Solitaire Vertical ring

Charon: Since moving to South Africa earlier this year, my wishlist has drastically shrunk. It turns out I don’t need much more than sunshine, a beach, a glass of wine, and some activewear (more on that starting next year). That said, the only way this Spustova Audace de Tris Solitaire Vertical ring in white is leaving my wishlist is by landing on my finger. Also holding strong on my edit: the perfect classic cotton shirt, like this one from Toteme, and a great pair of Thistles sunglasses that balance practicality with style. My top picks are the black “The AL” and black “The Atlas”. And finally, I wouldn’t mind an investment beach towel (if that’s even a thing), like this one from Loewe Paula's Ibiza.
